It's been a while

16.08.2010 23:48

Hi there,

It's been a while between drinks but I have a bunch of things going on so let me bring you up to speed. Here at SnS we've been inundated with amazing music these past few weeks and the best part is that most of it is Australian! First up I have to give massive props to Sydney band Ghoul. They have just sent me a stack of music that is seriously blowing me away. I can't even describe it. It's got soul but it's still icy. It's got groove but it's not funky or. Anyway, I'll hopefully be putting out some music by them in Oct/ Nov, perhaps some vinyl or album or mini album. I will keep you posted. Still on the youth and their talent, Sydney/ Adelaide two piece Collarbones are fucking phenomenal. They're very different to Ghoul but still rep that soul aesthetic but the beats are fractured and strange, it's dense too. They're going to put out an album on Two Bright Lakes next year, trust me it's brilliant. Check them both out live wherever and whenever you can. On a completely different tangent I love the new stuff from Magnetic Heads. They remind me of what bands used to sound like when I was young. Don't get me wrong, they sound like themselves but there's elements of Died Pretty and The Church in there. It's just great to hear! Lastly from Melbourne we've been loving Absolute Boys. They've released a single 12in with the track "Minimum Wage". It's essentially post punk but it like all great post punk from the late 70's and early 80's has melody.

You can get most of these bands music from their blogs and bandcamp sites, you can also order vinyl and cds and things like that from them. Below are the links, go for your life!

Kite CLub on pitchfork and castraii live set on FBI

01.08.2010 09:51

This is awesome! Our man, Kite Club has been featured on Pitchforks Fork Cast. Too cool. You can get his ep here on the site or on itunes! With the shift in weather these last few days you really could do your soul a favour and download this up and up ep.

In other awesome news Sydney's clan of nobodies Castratii are debuting their live set on FBI's Radiant on Monday the 2nd of August. They play four songs including a new one with vocal additions from another Speak n Spell siren.

Listen up!

11.07.2010 03:45

Janes Addiction were and still are one of my all time favorite bands. I'm not so into the reform stuff but man Ritual de lo Habitual and Nothing Shocking blew me away.
